QUESTION: What is DID?ANSWER: Dissociative Identity Disorder is a condition caused by severe trauma, typically during childhood/developmental periods. Formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder/MPD, this condition can mainly be defined by multiple consciousnesses/identities existing in one body/mind. This compartmentalization is something that the brain is naturally capable of and done in an effort to protect the mind and system itself from further/future danger. This condition is widely misunderstood, and can be lived with just fine- so long as you're willing to work with it.QUESTION: How the hell does this work with relationships?
ANSWER: It's complicated as hell, but the gist is: like any other relationship, but with extra steps and precautions, things to keep in mind. Functionally, we're all just as much people as any singlet, and happily have close relationships both between ourselves (like i said, it's complicated) and our IRL partner. We're a pretty happy bunch when it comes to this department, and consider ourselves a family.QUESTION: Why aren't any of you human? Wait you're all cartoon monsters this is sillyANSWER: Multiple systems tend to latch onto recurring elements/aesthetics/etc- it's familiar stuff, with associations that the brain can use to parse and provide a more tangible representation for abstract concepts. More simply put- monsters good and we can relate to them, always have. Blame 90's cartoons and detachment from humanity as a kid.
